In lieu of important sides by the likes of Ray Charles and Big Joe Turner, though, Mercury can boast of some latter-day highlights from R&B innovator Louis Jordan, a fine stock of early Dinah Washington blues swing, and the dulcet doo wop of Clyde McPhatter.
