What I Deserve is the fourth studio album by Kelly Willis, released more than six years after her self-titled album. Willis’s three previous efforts with her old label, MCA, while critically acclaimed, did not achieve much in sales. With the long lapse of time came a new style for Willis. Gone were the up-tempo rockabilly two-steppers, to be replaced by slower, less “catchy” ballads. The album was her highest on the Billboard country charts at #30, although it produced no charting singles. Two of the tracks were written by Willis’s husband Bruce Robison.
